With a total of 703 participants and 76 abstracts accepted, the 4th National AIDS Conference was a great success.
In keeping with the spirit of co-operation, this conference was made possible with lots of help from our partners – Malaysian AIDS Council, Centre of Excellence For Research in AIDS (Ceria), Federal Territories Health department (JKWP) and HIV/STI section of Ministry of health. National AIDS Conference has always been a melting pot of different communities that have a common purpose.
This year’s theme, “HIV response, Together we are stronger” reflects this. MASHM’s HIV treatment guidelines 2017 has echoed the country’s policy on “Test and Treat”, irrespective of CD4 counts.
Just like in the previous years the scientific program had good mix of local and foreign stalwarts. The topics were a mixture of clinical, public health and community based. There were many integrated symposia that brings together all three perspectives in keeping with the conference theme.
NAC will also saw the official launch of “HIV-Connect” by our YB Dr Lee Boon Chye, our Deputy Health Minister. This is an innovative HIV/STI training module developed by MASHM and Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) with support from Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Academy of Family Physicians (AFPM) which is targeted at General Practitioners.
